Guitar Player Presents takes its first flight of 2019 on the wings of the Magpie Salute, featuring former Black Crowes Rich Robinson and Marc Ford on guitar and Sven Pipien on bass. They’ll play tunes from their super well-written album, High Water I, and will surely bust out some Crowes classics. It’s a good bet they’ll debut material from their upcoming release High Water II as well, considering Robinson told GP that the band actually recorded both albums during the same sessions.

“We recorded 28 songs in 21 days,” Robinson says. “I didn’t sequence the first record until everything was done. I wanted to give the listeners a bit of time to digest what’s happening on High Water I, and then we’ll go a little deeper for the next one.”

Robinson documented how he tracked the acoustic guitars on High Water I plus some of his best acoustic Crowes cuts in his Frets feature for GP’s November issue. Read it online here, and we'll be sure to have print copies on hand in Berkeley to pass out for free to players. D’Addario kicked in some free strings and accessories, and Mesa/Boogie provided a Grid Slammer Overdrive pedal for a raffle, so make sure you stop by the Guitar Player Presents table to get in on the action.

The Bay Area’s own Stone Foxes will kick the evening off with its own brand of guitar-driven roots rock.
