Huawei[1] kickstarted its event at Mobile World Congress 2018[2] by announcing a laptop, a tablet, and some other products. At MWC this year, Huawei has unveiled the next generation of its MateBook X-series that it had launched in 2017[3]. The all-new MateBook X Pro is said to be a bigger and more powerful notebook that comes with a better display and upgraded audio technology. Additionally, it also unveiled MediaPad M5[4], a tablet which touts 2.5D curved glass displays.
The MateBook X Pro sports a 13.9-inches 3000x2000 pixels LTPS display capable of 450 nits brightness and 100 percent sRGB colour. With the laptop, Huawei claims a 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. MateBook X Pro is the first notebook to feature Huawei's FullView Display. It is powered by Core i7-8550U or Core i5-8250U 8th-gen Kaby Lake-R Core processors. The laptop packs 8GB or 16GB of RAM. For graphics, it also features Nvidia GeForce MX150, 2GB GDDR5. In terms of storage, the laptop comes in 256GB or 512GB SSD variants.
It has two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, a power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner, and comes in either Space Grey or Mystic Silver. In terms of dimensions, it measures 304x217x14.6mm and weighs around 1.33kg. In terms of battery, Huawei claims that users can "work regularly" for 14 hours on the MateBook X Pro.
Huawei has put the starting price at EUR 1,499 (roughly Rs. 1,20,00) for an i5 with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, ranging up to EUR 1,899 (roughly Rs. 1,51,400) for an i7 with a 512GB SSD. It will be available globally in Spring 2018.
