Welcome back to our weekly roundup of the news you can use from the world of tech. After launching last week[1], the Redmi Note 5[2], Redmi Note 5 Pro[3], and also the Mi TV 4[4] all went on sale this week, on Thursday. According to Xiaomi, it sold over 300,000 units[5] of the phones in less than 3 minutes. The Mi TV 4[6] clearly arrived in smaller quantities, as the 55-inch television, priced at Rs. 39,999, apparently sold out in less than 10 seconds.

The next sale for the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro will take place on February 28[7]. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is priced in India at Rs. 9,999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM model. The Redmi Note 5 Pro bears a price tag of Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM variant and Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB RAM variant. The Note 5 uses the Snapdragon 625 SoC, while the Note 5 Pro comes with the more powerful Snapdragon 636 SoC.

The Mi TV 4 will go on sale again on February 27[8]. It's going to be available via Mi.com, Flipkart[9], and Mi Home[10] stores. The Mi TV isn't just a decent panel at a reasonable price. The Chinese company has worked closely with Bengaluru-based Sensara[11] to bring a version of the Mi TV's PatchWall UI to India[12].
