Xiaomi Redmi Note 5[1], the successor to the popular Redmi Note 4, seems set to launch in the company's homeland. An online listing showing the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 placeholder was spotted on JD.com[2]. The listing didn't include an image of the product, and can be considered a placeholder for the upcoming Redmi Note 5. After several reports pointed out the listing on e-commerce retailer, it was pulled down tipping that the launch may be imminent. Xiaomi[3] has announced reduction on price of its popular Redmi Note 4, and this may be one sign that hints at successor launch. The Redmi Note 4 has been one of the top selling smartphones[4] for Xiaomi this year.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 specifications

GizmoChina first spotted[5] the listing of the Redmi Note 5 on JD.com and added that it will sport an edge-to-edge display. There were no specifications listed for the handset. Based on preliminary leaks[6], the alleged Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is likely to launch with 18:9 aspect ratio. Further, the handset is said to come with dual camera. As for specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is said to come powered by a Snapdragon 660 or MediaTek Helio P25 SoC, sport 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel rear camera sensors, and be powered by a 4000mAh battery.

A TENAA, the Chinese certification authority, listing[7] had claimed a 5.99-inch full-HD+ 2.5D curved glass display on the Redmi Note 5.
